Nord Plus Junior Application in 2017

The Se­ni­or High School of Sa­von­lin­nan ly­se­on lu­kio (la­ter Sa­von­lin­nan ly­se­on lu­kio) and Sta­sys Šal­kaus­kis Gym­na­sium in Ši­au­li­ai, Lit­hu­a­nia (la­ter Sta­sys Šal­kaus­kis Gym­na­sium) want to col­la­bo­ra­te in the pro­ject in pur­su­an­ce of fa­mi­li­a­ri­zing with his­to­ri­cal, ge­og­rap­hi­cal, eco­no­mi­cal, et­hi­cal, re­li­gi­ous etc. as­pects of such im­por­tant so­ci­al is­su­es as im­mig­ra­ti­on in both count­ries and emig­ra­ti­on from Lit­hu­a­nia. Also, the­re will be col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with im­mig­rants in Sa­von­lin­na, Fin­land to form con­tacts bet­ween the par­ti­ci­pants and pro­mo­te po­si­ti­ve at­ti­tu­des bet­ween them through an art pro­ject. In this way the in­teg­ra­ti­on of im­mig­rants is not only ana­ly­sed but pro­mo­ted as well. In ad­di­ti­on, the edu­ca­ti­o­nal sys­tems and sub­jects taught at both schools will be loo­ked into and po­si­ti­ve ex­pe­rien­ces sha­red.

The the­mes of the pro­ject will be in­teg­ra­ted into the sub­jects. The aims are to app­ly un­ders­tan­ding of the phe­no­me­non to prac­ti­ce, to rai­se stu­dents’ mo­ti­va­ti­on to le­arn dif­fe­rent sub­jects as well as to pro­mo­te cre­a­ti­vi­ty and in­no­va­ti­on in edu­ca­ti­on by using new and va­rying met­hods. The pur­po­se is also to pro­mo­te co-ope­ra­ti­on bet­ween the schools be­cau­se co-ope­ra­ti­on bet­ween Bal­tic and Nor­dic count­ries is de­si­rab­le.

The Fin­nish and Lit­hu­a­ni­an stu­dents will par­ti­ci­pa­te in the works­hops un­der the to­pics “In­teg­ra­ti­on of re­fu­gees and im­mig­rants in Fin­land and Lit­hu­a­nia. How to re­du­ce emig­ra­ti­on from Lit­hu­a­nia?”, “Re­du­cing pre­ju­di­ces and for­ma­ti­on of po­si­ti­ve at­ti­tu­des to­wards im­mig­rants in Lit­hu­a­nia” and re­pec­ti­ve “In­teg­ra­ti­on through Art”, ar­ran­ged by the Lit­hu­a­ni­an and Fin­nish te­ac­hers and stu­dents du­ring the vi­sits. The­re­fo­re, the pro­ject par­ti­ci­pants will ana­ly­se e. g. the le­vel of in­teg­ra­ti­on of re­fu­gees and im­mig­rants in Lit­hu­a­nia and Fin­land, dis­cuss ad­van­ta­ges and di­sad­van­ta­ges of im­mig­ra­ti­on and de­ve­lop ide­as how to imp­ro­ve the si­tu­a­ti­on of in­teg­ra­ti­on of re­fu­gees and im­mig­rants in both count­ries. Mo­re­o­ver, the pro­ject par­ti­ci­pants will in­ves­ti­ga­te the pro­cess and re­a­sons of emig­ra­ti­on and put for­ward ide­as how to re­du­ce emig­ra­ti­on from Lit­hu­a­nia.

In the work­shop in Fin­land the par­ti­ci­pants will cont­ri­bu­te in ma­king dif­fe­rent kinds of art work with the im­mig­rant stu­dents from Sa­von­lin­na Chris­ti­an Ins­ti­tu­te. The­re will also be an ex­hi­bi­ti­on of the art work at the town lib­ra­ry for the ge­ne­ral pub­lic.

In­for­ma­ti­on col­lec­ted be­fo­re, du­ring and af­ter the works­hops will be com­pi­led into on­li­ne book­lets and dist­ri­bu­ted to the school com­mu­ni­ties, ins­ti­tu­ti­ons vi­si­ted, ot­her schools in the lo­cal are­as, lo­cal po­li­ti­ci­ans and of­fi­ci­als wor­king in the field. The po­si­ti­ve im­pact will af­fect the par­ti­ci­pa­ting stu­dents, schools and lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties.
